Exactly. Except ALL the Iranians I know call themselves Persian.
DP. Same. But also, there's a reason for that...
I can promise you Iranians are not going around calling themselves “Persian” except to Americans (and even then, only to shield themselves from potential bigotry).
DP. Hold on. There are a couple of Iranian families at my swimming pool. They refer to themselves and Iran as Persia/Persians all the time.
It's a thing of pride, given their rich history. But what the hell do you know.
Again, TO AMERICANS. Amongst themselves, Iranians do not typically refer to themselves as Persians. There is no real equivalent word in Farsi.

My hope is for free elections/democracy and beyond that I don’t think anyone can say. Maybe it will be much better, maybe only slightly better. But it certainly can’t be worse. I genuinely don’t see how it could get worse unless something like the Taliban takes over, and I just don’t see that happening for a variety of reasons (pretty much zero Iranians want that and there is really no precedent for it in Iran).
No precedent? No precedent?
What do you call the past 45 years???

I think it was 2018 they were gonna have it in a couple wks! They were talking about it and then the next thing you know, it's a pre-emptive strike. Sorry but I question what shadiness is going on that Trump made a deal about with Israel because it's not about nuclear weapons.
Wrong, they were even crying about it in the late 1970s and early 80s.

I remember the threat of nuclear weapons being stated by Israel very shortly after the revolution
They also said the same about Saddam. Egypt actually was first to explore a nuke program in the 60s and Israel assassinated some French scientists helping Nasser with that.
Israel developed their own nuclear facilities (that JFK didn’t want them to have) throughout the 70s and 80s so it seems like a smokescreen or diversion tactic by pointing fingers at Iran and Iraq instead.
Reagan and Bush Sr. Did not fall into the neocon and Israeli firsters trap that much (I recall a tense relationship between Israel and those presidents). Certainly, a tense relationship btwn Israel and the Clinton and Obama WH. I remember there was anger in Israel over Hillary giving the Palestinian First Lady a kiss and longer hug than the Israeli First Lady (yes this was an actual news story).
Bush Jr. Was a Texan born again Evangelical and he really believed Iraq was a biblical crusade. At one point, he was referencing Gog and Magog. He brought the neocon cabal to strength in the Republican Party
