Perhaps I have become desensitized, but my reaction is "meh." I realize there are risks that the US is drawn into this, but I actually think Netanyahu may have made a very bad miscalculation here. Trump is loyal to absolutely no one. If public opinion turns, so will he. After two forever wars and all his blather about America First he may actually have to put his money where his mouth is.

Sure it can. The Middle East from Egypt to Syria to Iran have ignored attacks on its soil from Israel for years now. Do you believe the assassination of the Iranian president on that airplane was purely accidental? Iran has ignored all the antics thus far from Israel. They cannot ignore a public attack. A stealth one, sure. But no nation can lose face, so there will be the obligatory barrage of missiles to Israel, that the US will help intercept, just like last time. Iran, fearing American involvement, threatened US bases in the Middle East. It will probably spare them if the US acts only as financial and interception support.

One problem is, PP, that any escalation is always risky, because it takes very little to make a mistake! A wrongly guided missile smacks into a US base - how do you think this White House, full of toxic masculinity, will respond?

Second, Netanyahu is desperate for war to stay in office and out of prison, and Iran is very close to getting nuclear missiles. There is a sense that it's now or never. He wants to crush Iran's military capacity and given his total disregard for civilians in Gaza, one can imagine that there will be outrageous losses in Iran... which will continue to spawn and fund terror cells against Israel and the western world for generations to come.

It's mind-blowing that the US is actively bleeding money to give to Israel to ultimately fund new generations of terrorists against the US.

Hamas is linked financially to Qatar and Sunni states like Turkey. There's no evidence of a major Iran link there. In fact, Russia is more of a link to Hamas than Iran is. Many Wagner group mercenaries were involved in 10/7 and Russian RPG's were used-not to mention it was Putin's birthday. Hamas and Moscow have a good relationship.
