I hardly ever saw another person at all when I drive through so where are they all hiding? But in reality, South of the Border was actually one of the first integrated motels in the south where black motorists could stay without being turned away for their skin color. It was created by a Jewish businessman who was know to be a decent (not-racist) guy.
