It's complex. His supporters are nationalists. A lot of anger resides in this country esp among the have nots and uneducated because the wealth gap is huge. Prices today are truly nuts on all fronts. So he's anti DEI as a platform.

Personally I think he's just idiotic enough to believe being isolationist is the way to go. It is scary. I do not agree with the belief he's like Hitler in terms of copying his actions.
