You must be that person or her friend. Being a PTA president is not just an unpaid volunteer position to show your clout in the school. The PTA president should advocate on behalf of other parents, not just on behalf of your own kid.

The problem with this particular one was she did not push hard enough last year, but now when her daughter is attacked she goes to the media. Why didn't she push harder when a kid was choked, a teacher cried on seeing a kid attacking another with a pair of scissors?

Push for what exactly?

Whatever she is doing now for her own kids in JLES and Barnsley.

Ms.Anolik did what as a PTA president when that happened?

Now that her daughter is the target, it gets to go in the news.

What did you do as a parent? Or, you just expected her to do it all.

More than you know. And as the "PTA President", she should have gone to the media then, not just when her daughter is the target. The other kid last year had scissors to his neck. Maybe if she and the rest of the PTA board did something then, this would not have happened this year.

You don’t go to the media, you go to the BOE and central office and demand change. She cannot do everything alone. If you were concerned why did you not do anything.

No, PP is right. You go to the BOE and central office AND you go to the media. PTAs are supposed to be advocacy organizations. You don't owe MCPS your silence as a PTA president. It's your job to grab the bullhorn and sound the alarm loudly and publicly.

Talking about safety in this district is like talking about health at McDonalds.

When did this happen?

Every honest person knows this is what happens to teachers who step out of line. Why do think so many teachers are afraid to speak up about what’s happening?

Teachers who can afford it, are resigning in droves. Others are hired by private schools. They were educated to teach, not to sacrifice their safety on the job.

Are you in elementary, middle or high?

I don’t think that’s relevant. Point is that public schools have fewer and fewer good, experienced teachers. Those who can’t yet retire are probably going to private schools. No teacher should have to fear getting attacked at school.

What do you propose?
