We were similar last year but not down memberships, so this summer our pool is allowing waitlist families’ kids to join swim, dive and tennis.
It’s slightly annoying for kids who waited years for their turns while they were on the waitlist but we have some gaps in certain age groups (probably the impact of the waitlist in the first place!) so most people supported the board’s decision.

I think Springfield struggles with so many pools in that area.

Location is also helpful. Springfield? Centreville? Arlington?

Anonymous wrote:Our pool partners with Pros to You to offer a full day camp on site. Kids can attend morning swim practice and then a counselor picks them up to go down the steps to camp. And it’s reasonably priced.

B meets are one night of the week...
but I get it, swim team isn't for everyone. This is honestly why, as a team rep, I don't bend over backwards to accommodate every family. I figure if the kids and family care enough, as we did, they will make it work. If they don't care they will make 100 excuses they they just can't do swim team.
NP. You're absolutely right- I know that our team reps are worried about volunteers for weeknight B meets though. From what they say it has been a LOT easier to fill the early concessions and timer slots in recent years when more parents were teleworking. I know I personally will be less likely to sign up for those this year because of RTO, and less likely to do sign up for extra jobs. So it goes.
The early time slots are always the most popular at our pool, and I don't see that changing this year. People will leave work early on Mondays to accommodate B meets. And yes, I know some feds can't right now. But a lot of people still can.
