I once signed up for a hang gliding course taught by an NIH lab workers. He lived in Arlington but worked at NIH. This is 90's, he never worked weekends, he never worked late. And he didn't have any stress. He had time to run a hang gliding business on the side in evenings and every weekend. I was jealous I must admit, since I was working software development with insane death march hours.
This has been long long overdue to just cut 50% of NIH.

Fine- People like this should be completely cut off from any breakthroughs, advances, or knowledge that comes from NIH research and university research. That means no doctors for you because where do doctors like me get all my knowledge? I’ll give you a hint… it’s from all the research.

Ooh I work at an acute care hospital and our lab workers also only work 8 hour days and may not work weekends depending on their job classification...and if they do work weekends, they get weekdays off accordingly.
Guess those pesky hospital lab workers are lazy and useless!
I also only work 8 hour days, how lazy of me to have time for my second job outside of work - being a mom.

I was at NIH for five years. I loved seeing the wall of Nobel Laureates who worked at the NIH or were funded by the agency. When I was there (in 2003) I think the number was over 100 when I was there and is nearly 200 now.
