There are too many good colleges out there to settle for one that you will be explaining for the rest of your life. If you have the patience for that, good for you. I have better things to do.

Ohio has gone MAGA and it's struggled to retain and add national level employers.
There are many parts of America that have good qualities but small upper-end job markets.

It's in Ohio, that's why. A lot of great top colleges in Ohio are very underrated and unliked for some reason.

I see Case as similar to Hopkins (which my kid also didnt like). Very serious, academic student body with strong stem credentials, and a nerdy reputation (whether deserved or not).

Also accurate: Case does bombard you with tons of emails! They do value demonstrated interest so if the student is interested in CWRU, open those emails.

Yes, college allure is that shallow. There is nothing inherently special abt Cornell or Dartmouth or Penn (which people still stupidly confuse w Penn State) but the Ivy League brand elevates them.
Vanderbilt is the name of a bunch of dead robber barons and a deceased heiress whose name is on jeans sold at Kohls (which I wear, btw). How is the name cooler?
Nashville is a more fun town than Cleveland, especially because of its entertainment industry. It doesn't have a Rust Belt decay side of it. Towns can get past that. Pittsburgh has.
