We had the same experience. There are two more tryout sessions to go, so perhaps more players will turn up then.

Potomac has made big changes by bringing in some very experienced coaches for the GA league. The 2013 coach was at Bethesda academy before I believe. Very positive IMO.

Not seeing it either. Does anyone have a link or a copy of the list?

Potomac just released their coaching slate for the girls … anyone know anything about their new 2013 coach ? Trying to see if anyone knows anything before our tryout date with Potomac on Tuesday.

My daughter is on a top GA team, and their players never go to tryouts. They are either offered or not offered a spot on the next year's team before tryouts begin. It is my experience that if you haven't been asked to the top team before the tryouts and you are a new player you aren't going to be offered a spot on the top team because of a few tryout dates. At least for our club you need to be going against the girls for several weeks in trainings during the season, or already have a name people know. Now for kids u12 and below maybe that is different, but once u13 starts tryouts dates have nothing to do for the top team and are just used for filling out the other teams in the club.

Not requiring existing players to come to at least 1 day of tryouts is the mark of either inexperience or laziness.

It's a good reminder about the need to stay competitive. And if you don't want to, and make soccer a lesser part of your life, that's a fine decision. But then accept that you won't start, or will be moved to a lower level team. And it's a good way to see all the players (current and new) mixed together.

Agree 💯

Wish more coaches instilled life lessons like this in young girls and boys, the value of work ethic, always compete, never take your top team spot for granted even if you've been playing lights out all year long. Unless there's an injury risk, kids should all be at tryouts, no lollygagging and practice like you play.

Um. All players on the top team my DC plays on were told that they definitely are not to take their spot for granted and that if there is a player better than them that comes out to try outs they can and will lose their spot. I don't think anyone is taking their spot for granted. Every practice, every game - they need to bring their best and if they are not, you know the coach can tell immediately since s/he has been training them all. year. long. Anyways - best of luck to everyone this try out season - wish it wasn't in early May when it causes chaos to break out from the rest of the season in 1-2 weeks but what can we do.
