OP here- wow thanks for all the suggestions. I haven’t even heard of some of them. lol. I’m in MD if that matters.

I prefer clothes shopping in store as opposed to online. I don’t like fast fashion and I’m trying to avoid synthetics if possible because of all the microplastics in our water/brain.

I’m a smallish size but have a mom belly.

Will have to check out some of these places.

Aerie isn’t my style but my teens love it.
Anthro - I liked in my 20s-30s but not so much anymore. Now I like them for their houseware
Ann Taylor is boring now

I do like White House Black Market.

No, it’s the same stuff. Both TN and EE carry high end brands. Often the exact same things. In actuality, TN makes its own lines that look like knock off everything and are relatively cheap.

I'm almost 60 and like J Crew- reasonable $ for casual clothing, Bloomingdales and Nordstrom for a few nicer items. I buy way fewer clothes than I used to because I'm retired, wear a lot of athleisurewear (Lulu, Adidas, etc) so just need a few outfits for out and about/dinners/lunches each season.

Mostly the same as everyone else, but I haven't seen Garnet Hill mentioned yet. I like their wash and wear Ecovero dresses and their cashmere.

Can you please link what pieces you bought at Free People.

Evereve and Tuckernuck are both retailers with similar models. It’s like a boutique of yore or a kind of specific department store where they are selling different brands, as opposed to like Jcrew where everything is Jcrew brand. So they will have a somewhat bigger range of styles than a single brand store.

I think Evereve is more like 30-something, but like mature 30-something. They do have some nice stuff for us older folks, too.

Aerie is for teen girls, not middle aged women.

A middle aged woman would look ridiculous in Aerie, like the Regina's "Cool Mom" from Mean Girls.

I can do one worse, I still shop at Forever 21 and I'm 49! Though I'm Asian, not sure if that helps
