What? They did not go to the police for a full two weeks after Gabby died. Investigators were able to determine the night that she died based on the autopsy. Because Brian took her phone and was texting people and then said she was out of service, her parents were worried, but did not contact the police till a full two weeks after. How are they in any way responsible for her death.

What kind of sick Fck would bring a suit like that and what judge or jury would find it even slightly convincing to convict the parents of a murder victim? No.

According to the documentary, when he left the house observers mistook him for his mother. Also the parents lawyered up minutes after they got Brian’s phone call. They were under no legal obligation to cooperate with the investigation. And they didn’t destroy evidence, etc.

Don’t know if you saw, Gabby‘s parents file a wrongful death suit against them and it was settled. So it looks like they had to face some consequences.

The agony of having you our child lay in the wilderness for weeks when Brian called his mom within hours and admitted what he had done.

What I find initially weird is that when the cop first stopped Brian and Gabby’s van, he never asked them for a driver’s license/I.D.

Usually when one is stopped while driving by a police officer that is what they usually ask you.
They ask to see your driver’s license, vehicle registration and proof of car insurance, am I right??

Instead the cop just tells Brian to put his keys on the dashboard.
And this IS immediately after witnessing him driving the van erratically just moments prior.

Most cops would demand a breathalyzer test for anyone who drove like that!

What kind of police force does Moab have where a man is clearly seen by a concerned citizen, putting his hands on a woman then after speaking with them both, the man is driven into town to a free hotel stay while the woman is encouraged to drive to a public shower and take a shower then spend the evening alone in the middle of the desert.

????
Some creep could have followed her from the shower place to who knows where??
I mean, the area wasn’t too safe around that time - especially for tourists.

Remember those two women who were found murdered at a nearby campground?
To my knowledge their killer is still at large!

I agree - it was like they knew that Brian had assaulted Gabby and in the end they rewarded him with a free night in a hotel room where they encouraged him to spend the evening watching TV while they advised Gabby to go to a public shower 🚿 house.

Luckily the documentary stated that she ended up driving to the hotel and stayed with Brian that night.

I thought this was really weird too, but my one defense of the cops is that they knew he had taken the keys from the van from her and locked her out of the van. They may have thought it would be safer for her to control their transportation. That’s the only justification. I wonder why they didn’t just give her the keys to the van and get them both hotel rooms separately.

Also, I love how a cop doesn’t realize that a public shower might not be the most relaxing activity for a young woman.
