It’s almost like they knew they were all going to leave.

And who wants to be Interim anything. You know a new appointee is going to get it. It’s like being in a PIP.

Go make $1m a year elsewhere for awhile

Sassoon was the new appointee from the Trump administration.

Sassoon graduated in 2011, the Vances in 2013. So, they were there at the same time, but just for a year.

The Acting USA saw a chance to turn herself into this year's Preet Bharara and took it. Smart career move with zero downside and all upside. She was going to end up a big law white collar partner anyway and just moved up the timeline to cash in. I wouldn't call her a hero for it, but plenty of you will.

Right, I'm sure the prosecutor resigned because she didn't have any evidence and it was just a "politically motivated case". Pull the other one, sport.

Before you ask that, the judge needs to ask:

Do the facts here provide reason to question the “presumption of regularity” that ordinarily attaches to prosecutorial decisions, United States v. Fokker Servs. B.V., 818 F.3d 733, 741 (D.C. Cir. 2016)?

Yep - Scalia clerk and Fed Soc.

well done Sassoon, in preserving the rule of law. you’re an inspiration and reminder that we can differ in many political views but should ALL defend the rule of law.

Seems an important role for ABA to keep reminding people.

I just came from USAID. (And yes, IMO it needed some significant level of reform). The organization endured a complete “information black out” for three weeks. Staff did not know who was active and who was not. Leaders were never told when people were deactivated. This is week three. End of week three: our new government leaders did not talk to us.

Nearly all -possibly- all of the written communication to staff concerned retirement and getting personnel files. It instructed staff not to access the federal buildings as well.

In sum, the approach was hardly any written communication from within the Agency. Accompanied by zero oral communication or physical presence. I am sharing for trend spotting purposes.

It was fascinating.

Um, no. As a NYC city hall employee I can assure you that many of us saw this coming without any "political motivations".

PP here. Lol. Ok.

No, they do not. There have been many public corruption prosecutions for activities like this. Some have even famously been reversed by the Supreme Court because they were not based on conduct that Congress intended to criminalize. It is well known that prosecutors frequently push the boundaries of these statutes in their push to root out any kind of graft in politics.

Except the grand jury and the whole money from the Turks… but carry on.

There was no money exchange from the Turks. The liberals who hate Adams picked a number out of the air and said he got $80000 in upgrades during a trip to Turkey 8 years ago.

10000 hotel room, 10000 dinner, 10000 car transport, etc.

Mayor Adams begged Trump for a pardon. Trump's guy at DOJ, Emil Bove, came back with a different offer - you help us with immigration and we'll drop the charges. Adams' lawyers are also Musk's and Trump's lawyers so making a deal was easy, very cozy.

This article lays it all out - total corruption. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/nyregion/adams-lawyers-justice-department-dismissal.html

No. No cash or deposits involved.

They want to go after his expenses and perks when he was president of Brooklyn.

Unf they’re not going after everyone elses’, jsut his. Washington DC and Marion Barry days onwards knows the drill.

so Adams traded $80M of NY money for his freedom.

Because it’s leverage to get him to do Trump favors. The order to drop the case says it’s because Adams will help him out on immigration. The order was also to dismiss without prejudice, meaning they can re-file the case whenever they want, continuously keeping a sword over his neck if he dares to get out of line. Hochul needs to fire the guy. The fact that she hasn’t shows how democrats are bringing sticks to gunfights.

Sorry what’s the case again?

Adams took $80m to himself from the Turks or from NYC? Wow.
