I think they look like rusting coffins. Someone I know bought one and insisted I give it a try. I gave it a quick spin around my neighborhood in December - not many people out and about. I got flipped off by one neighbor in a car and called an assh by someone I drove by. I drove less than a half mile slowly. I'm not making this up.

We can't get another car right now, and doing so would be bad for the environment since there is nothing wrong with this one (except the guy who owns the company has lost his mind and soul, if ever he had one), so it is what it is. And it's actually a great car, so there's that too. We don't own any Tesla stock.

If you want to take something out on Elon, go after Elon, not your neighbors. We need to get our kids to school and ourselves to work. A car is a car. I don't get people who side eye someone for the car they drive as if it means they agree with Elon's current politics. That's just not realistic.

I don't think you need to worry about the sedan-type Teslas, since they're very widespread and people understand most of them were bought before Elon started cozying up to the extreme-right.

PP is correct that the timing of the cybertruck rollout makes these owners seem like they just deliberately ignored red flags from that quarter (or maybe they're neo-Nazis too!). Also cybertrucks are extremely unsafe - they're very heavy, and they lack collapsible plastic fenders which make collisions with pedestrians/bicycles/etc less lethal than they might otherwise be. Without injecting politics into it, it's just a really, really, bad design and no rational car-buyer should ever be interested.

Teen DD said cybertrucks look like trash cans.

The look like cheap old stainless refrigerators on wheels that sat in a crowded day care where no one ever cleaned.
