These are local social service organizations which receive funding to administer government contracted services. How on earth is the fact that reputable organizations are doing what Congress asked them to do through legislation a bad thing?

Lutheran Services works with refugees. I helped out some afghani refugees with assistance with Lutheran Services.

Elon has no context for what these contracts and payments are for because HE ISN'T A GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE! He’s randomly looking at payments and trying to justify his illegal activity by making people angry. He’s such a tool!

Where did I get signed up to pay for this as a tax payer? Oh, I didn't.

Not a legitimate function of fed.gov. Cut it.

Wow. I often wonder how people could have voted for Trump. Then I read a response like this and see there really are awful, cold hearted people out there!

+1

And it also takes away our soft influence and opens the door for china and other rivals to fill the vacuum.

Exactly. We are showing our weakness and are ceding power to China.

Musk is attempting to curry favor with China.

Wrong.

Naive.

Please define “money laundering.”

It’s crazy to see Musk, Vance, et al go on full attack on the church based charities.

Cool. Better have enough money to support your parents in their old age.

Jesus, Elon is going to get people killed.

His latest tweet essential says the US helped invent COVID and it killed millions. All the whackos out there believe him beyond a doubt now because he has access to everything via DOGE.

How long until tons of these crazies storm DC with lots of guns and shoot up the place? This isn't a joke anymore. What about Fauci? There could be a mob who tries to drag him out of his house because they're listening to Elon.

This is getting catastrophically worse by the hour and it is a powder keg ready to explode.

But the total spend is not just a drop in the bucket.

The money is typically 100% support, with no strings attached, that is, free money to citizens in other countries. I believe that charity is a wonderful thing, until and unless it eventually causes potential corruption and out of control spending.

Maybe it did not need to be put at a full stop but someone needs to take a second look at how it's run. In fact, we have a lot of federal departments that should be evaluated. We should have a legit process in doing it which I definitely believe we won't have under Trump & co., but the idea that USAID and all these agencies should and can just go on till infinity running the way they are currently is contributing to the downfall of the US. The spending must stop. It is as nuts as Trump is in a manner of speaking.

If you compare the amount of money spent on USAID vs the military, it is indeed a drop in the bucket. Your post reveals your ignorance.

Valid question to ask.. How come poverty situation in the world is not improving despite all the investment, and 1st world countries are getting flooded by the desperate? And what happened to all the aid during the pandemic when 3rd world starved while new billionaires were made?

READ earlier posts!!

The world poverty level is lower than it has ever been.

Please don’t post your opinions online if they stem from total ignorance of the topic under discussion.

Not to mention the improvements in maternal mortality and infant mortality over time.
