My kid did get a NRIEP placement, which is the college SEAP program. It’s lab dependent on when the offer goes out.

I noticed some summer programs that were solely for HBCUs or disadvantaged students are now for all students. It’s also true of some state programs not just federal internships.

He didn’t think Kamala would win. And he was right. This country is not ready for her. There is only one place to lay blame right now and that is the oligarchy running the country.

Is that why he chose Kamala as his VP?

He NEVER said he would be a one-term president. That would have made him a lame duck on 1/20/21.

Google it yourself ...

What a sad state of affairs. Punishing so many people and causing unnecessary pain.

I'm disgusted by what this admin and Pres are doing to our country.

For the people who voted for him - please call your Senator and Congressman to protect these programs your kids will need (along with social security, medicare, the economy, your stock portfolio, your 529, federal funding for college programs, grants, everything).

Otherwise, we'll all have to move to Mexico ...

In a normal year, the Navy SEAP internships are highly competitive and their decisions usually are not this early. Good that your DC applied but DC also should be applying other places. Look at the FFRDCs and large gov't contractors and also at the private sector companies along the Silver Line in Reston.

Anyone know if this was a result of the spending freeze/uncertainty regarding government contractors?
Well, MITRE is a big federal contractor, so probably.

yeah I also noticed the MITRE internships were pulled down. I didn't put it together :/

Of course he and his handlers are to blame. The debate showed him to be shockingly incompetent, all the while trying to cover for the fact he had been asleep at the switch. Then the party nominated someone who had no proposals and couldn't speak a logical sentence. You have only your party to blame

Of course you ingest crap media

I'm pretty sure I blame you for voting for this tyrant

I would assume there are Trump voters in the civil service… are you happy now? Maybe that needs to wait until your fruit is $20 per pound.

You wonder why there isn’t more organized outrage to college internships being eliminated, in light of everything else that is going on?

God no. I’m wondering about the entire thing! The civil service decimation. The censoring and pulling of websites. The influence of Musk. All of it, of course! Not the internships.

This is a really good question and nobody knows yet. Almost all scientific research in this country is directly funded by or intertwined with federal funding. Medical schools and academic medical centers subsist on federal funds. The list goes on.

So do engineering schools

For seniors heading to college who were hoping to land an internship at NIH:

The NIH Intramural Program has paused the recruitment of IRTAs, CRTAs, and Visiting Fellows in all training programs pending guidance from Health and Human Services. Check back daily for updates.
