I’m OP. I’m a moderate. I’ve noted for both Rs and Ds in my life. I’d be perfectly happy with a Romney type candidate and quite liked Hogan. I’m terrified of the next 4 years.

I bet you were optimistic on Biden’s inauguration thinking he would be the candidate of moderation and a return to sanity. You were wrong then and you’re wrong now to be terrified.

You voted in a lying, cheating, self serving felon and rapist. No one cares what you think....you don't seem to realize how stupid everyone thinks you are for this. Your orange god does not care about any of you he ran to keep himself out of prison.

The maga movement has only been gaining more traction. Their ability to deflect and make excuses is astonishing. I think maybe we need this period of letting the GOP control it all. Starting tomorrow, there is nobody to blame, nobody to deflect to. We are going to hit rock bottom, and I think that’s the only hope we have that enough people will face the reality of where the GOP priorities truly lie.

So... how about we focus on finding a real presidential nominee that will squash anything MAGA has to offer and we'll together put the disastrous Trump/Biden years behind us? Do you want to be part of the solution or part of the whiny partisan crowd?

Newsome/whitmer ticket. But won’t happen because they’re both white.

Not going to happen because the fires have killed Newsom’s political standing and capital.

Newsom being a Californian politician eliminated his chances at becoming POTUS in the near future long before LA was on fire.

Dems are not coming back for a good 10 years.

We need a hard reset in this country - the big cities are a dump with corruption and mismanagement. Get back to meritocracy, scrap DEI in all forms and MAGA!

Yea, no. When was the last time there was 3 terms in a row of the same party?

I don’t think it will be newsome but I don’t think the race of candidate is going to matter. People want this trump stuff over with and will probably vote for whoever can get it done.

Trump created Covid? Fascinating theory! Always the bright ones, you liberals.

If the dems want to win, they’re not going to run the governor of California. They need to run a moderate.

Only to be replaced by the Trump night-terror. Trump is just going to make egg prices increase more, all while destroying the very fabric of this country

The fabric was a farce anyways.

Well let’s see…

I do government contracting primarily in public health and education. My livelihood is very likely to be affected. I and many of my friends are part of the LGBT community and long fought for rights are on the verge of disappearing. I am female and have a daughter. Bodily autonomy seems like a thing of the past. And tariffs and deportations will likely feed inflation. But right, you can’t wait for tax cuts to be renewed

Ok, so why are you going to lose your job?
What LGBT rights precisely will disappear?
And if the democratic process dictates that a law will change? Why is that a thing of the past? It's democracy right?

Sincerely,

This.
The next four years will be objectively terrible. But hopefully the boil of MAGA will explode and the poison will drain out.

The last four years were objectively terrible with the massive inflation and open border. Trump returning to office gives many of us hope that the country can again be set on the right track.

Like he did his first term, right? There were no illegals during those 4 years. Not a one.

And no high unemployment.

And no pandemic.

And jobs came flooding back to the United States.

And coal was king.

And corporations stopped outsourcing.

And we had the best healthcare.

Right??

Every day is drama with Trump, but when it comes to legislation, there's not much there. And given the make-up of the House, Republicans can't pass anything substantial without Democratic votes. It'll be a noisy four years, but I don't expect much, particularly after Democrats take the House back in two years.

This. Trump did not achieve anything other than tax cuts and blew up our deficit. Tax cuts that my family personally is benefiting from but millions aren’t. He isn’t going to achieve anything in the next 4 years. He’s just going to sit in the Oval office and get his ego stroked by his yes men.

The problem is he has all of Congress and SCOTUS with him this time around
