I hate this idea. I already recycle consistently. Why am I being punished? The price of a 12 pack of soda is already crazy at most DC supermarkets - you're now going to add $1.20? I told DH he's going to have to give up his soda habit. In what word do DC politicians think that making something more expensive is a good idea right now.

I use to collect coke bottles and turn them in when I was seven years old. I had some much money everyday. In my neighborhood I knew where people threw them away. Back then 5 or 10 cents bought a soda and a candy bar and lots of gum.

DC needs to stop making everything more expensive and ruining quality of life. This will policy will be magnet for homeless people all around the country.

This is insane. In Michigan people just leave cans out for people to take. It’s not a magnet at all.

What do you mean by this? Leave them out where and in what? For how long? Who picks them up?

This is peak progressive logic: let’s create a program that will cost businesses and consumers more money, even though we have an existing program at scale. Oh, and let’s do it right before a recession. No wonder home rule is in danger.
