Truth is I tried to nudge my kid toward Pitt above other higher ranked schools. They chose otherwise, but I am impressed by the culture there.
I'm so glad to hear this-- DS was accepted at Pitt and we couldn't be happier. He is not having luck breaking into the higher ranked schools so far--and we're fine with it because we've heard so many good things about Pitt.

Plus the acceptance letter had a really nice personalized post script about DS’ personal interest. Was a really nice touch!

As a current parent, I can confirm that Davidson is a very happy, social place. My student absolutely loves it! Fantastic classes w amazing profs, lots of fun social opportunities, a super charming town and an all-around great group of students on campus. It's an idyllic place for college!

Also love that they have a full ride History scholarship. [/quote
Gburg alum here, and this post made me smile! Thank you! Those cookies are, indeed, amazing. Thanks, OP, for starting this thread - the positivity is welcome.

Totally different schools, both Catholic, with very different vibes, but my kid loved both and felt they’d be happy and successful. Marywood seemed very committed to service and kindness, and has a library we keep talking about. U of Scranton was compact, bustling, and the business program (kids area of interest) was impressive.
