Depending on timing you can get cheap flights and you can do beach, city, kayaking with penguins, go to mountains. Lodging was not super expensive when I went and there's so much to do. Highly recommend the District 6 museum for important history but compact and won't take all day
This flight is brutal.
People are suggesting Japan. So yeah it's not going to be a short flight but it's certainly not going to be any worse than SE Asian and Japan
East coast to Japan is about 2 hours shorter than to Cape Town. I felt every bit of that 2 hours. It absolutely makes a difference.
Newark direct to Cape Town is 14 hours and 20 minutes.
Newark direct to Tokyo is 14 hours and 20 minutes.

Anonymous wrote:As someone with 2 preteens who did Japan there is no way I would go for a short holiday. The jet lag will kill all of you.
I would fly 6 hours tops. Like E to W coast or something lol.
Also $10k for 4 is not a huge budget. Agree with PP that y'all have no idea how much it takes to travel these days!
I mean you can do $1k/pp on a cheaper flight to Japan but I'm not sure aid want that flight esp traveling with only 6 days' time or something.
I would find myself the coolest most interesting pretty fun splurge worthy place - a hidden gem out west maybe CO/AZ/NV/UT and go that. I'd spend the money at a dude ranch even. I would most def not hike it to Asia and I am Asian by the way.

I did find good flights! 10k doesn’t go so far! Any great locations or things to see in Thailand?
Would love to go to Thailand. If we did it we could possibly go over Christmas Break and have closer to 2 weeks. Any recommendations of beautiful beach towns? Love the more secluded feel, not beaches lined w hotels. Willing to put in some
extra money if we extended it past a week.
Um, yes. Google is your friend. This is not off the beaten path, it is very well documented.
I’m asking for people to share their experiences. I’m obviously googling too. You don’t seem to understand the purpose of a forum. Thailand is also overwhelming if you google because there are so many beautiful beach towns.
What have you actually gotten out of this thread that you couldn’t get from Google? Most people are just listing places.
You must be really popular! Very charming personality lol
OP just seems lazy. Hire a travel agent.
Take. your. medication.
