His election shows us that decorum, honor and civility are obsolete and counterproductive. It really is shameful and an embarrassment that he was at the opening.

See? What did I just say? Always try to find something negative to say.
It's not negative. It's positive. This day is about Notre Dame and the restoration. This day is not about Trump. Pope Francis had it right. Let the cathedral be the center of attention.
So why say that his presence could not ruin the day and mention his mortality. That's pretty negative to me. You could have just stopped at "Notre Dame it's quite beautiful. The restoration is impressive"
Because Trump wants all the attention on him. He doesn't give a damn about Notre Dame but he knows he will be the center of attention for much of the free world's press.
Could it be that the president of the United States is the leader of the free world? Shame that the President of the United States and the current leader of the free world could not be there.
You don’t think Biden figured out it was strategically more important for Trump to be there? They got Trump in the same room with Zalensky - that’s the entire point of Biden bowing out.
Biden took one for the team. And people want to crap on him over it. Unreal. I’m sure Macron was thankfully Biden bowed out; it gave Trump a moment to feel important and more amenable.
The event was flawless. Really great move by Macron et al.
This. The entire thing was a tactical effort to get Trump on side with Ukraine because no one -- not Biden, not Congressional leaders from both parties, and no one in Europe -- want Trump to pull our support from Ukraine. So the goal is to bring him into the fold and the way to do that with Trump is to make him feel very important and as though he is leading the way, without him actually leading the way.
I'm sure they back channeled it because they don't want there to be any concrete evidence that could embarrass Trump (invoking his rage) but yes it was obviously all arranged for Biden to stay back and send Jill so that Trump could take center stage, and them Macron could wine and dine Trump on the one hand while carefully arranging the Zelensky meeting with the other.
One thing about Trump as president is that it's good for other foreign leaders who want to play a bigger role in geopolitics. This is great for Macron who can play broker and savior in the EU at a time when he is pretty beleaguered in France. He's likely set to retire soon, but he wants to choose his successor and he wants to go out on top. Being Trump's handler in Europe with regards to Ukraine is an important role for him to play that will burnish his rep.
It’s also just really awkward for everyone to have to keep an eye on gentlemen who have a tendency to wander off. Best to stay at home.
Dumb, bitter comment. Biden has a better grasp on foreign policy than most modern Presidents. He knew to strategically bow out.

Talking about AUKUS and the Quad. The Emir of Qatar was just in the UK for security and defence talks and was given a state dinner. Maybe now, people will start focusing on the aggression of China in the Indo-Pacific.
With Prince William?? I don't think so. Trump's probably telling him how beautiful his mother was and that she would've married him if she'd only stayed alive longer.

We all know why. He’s mentally incapacitated. It’s why Jill is there.
He’s not incapacitated, he’s just old and slow. I doubt he felt like schlepping to Paris to sit through some tedious ceremony. He’s not outright mentally ill like Trump though.
Did dnt he just go to Africa?
Yeah, maybe he’s tired of traveling.

Ha ha ha you know what I think- you Dems are jealous. Jealous your lives are not nearly as exciting, worldly or interesting. The way you berate, crap on and go on and on about Trump is very odd.
We will call out every single horrible thing the orange POS does while he’s in office. And the gross MAGAs get off on it because they really voted for him just to spite the Ds/normal people.

The anonymous dcum poster who knows the inner thoughts of Trump, and the secret, private lives of multiple world leaders.
Having an obsession with Trump and a parasocial relationship with him and world leaders is a you problem.
It’s so tired at this point. I can’t imagine the mental health of these people if they are going to spend the next four years doing this!
