Because my kid definitely doesn’t want to be outside when it’s cold so the PP “despises” her. Which is pathetic.

We live in a cold and snowy state and my kids seem immune to the cold. They don’t care at all and often shed coats and hats while playing. But they definitely have had friends over the years that don’t seem to love thr cold and would rather stay inside. It could be the child’s personal preference or it could be an excuse for another reason they don’t want to play or can’t play.

Plenty of fit, thin kids don’t like to go outside when it’s very cold or hot. It’s weird that OP and others are trying to make it some moral virtue like we are in an LLBean commercial or something. We have neighbor kids to our house all the time indoors, and vice versa.

40 degrees isn’t heavy coat and hot chocolate weather. Are you all serious? Have some of you ever even seen snow?

My kids were outside today - it was about 40 and sunny in the early afternoon. They put on their heavy coats, a hat, and warm gloves, and kicked around the soccer ball for half an hour. Then they came inside and I made them hot chocolate. This was pretty reminiscent of my childhood, although I'm pretty sure my whole neighborhood would have been outside all day. Unfortunately, there aren't many kids in the neighborhood we live in now, so they just have each other and they get sick of each other after 30 minutes!


I will say that playing outside after school is hard right now - it gets dark at 5:00. My kids are the last bus stop, they get home at 4:30. There's no time to play outside!

A heavy puffer, warm socks and sneakers are fine. Don't forget the hat and gloves - ours in a cubby in the closet, easy to grab on the way out of the house!

When we lived in Minnesota, we just bundled the kids in snowsuits and they played outside for hours.

This also. My kids play outside every day. Some days it's just 20 mins, other days it's hours. On cold days I bundle them up properly and have no problem.

Op, you need to find like minded parents in your neighborhood. Once you get one parent on board the other kids from other families will join. They may not play as long but getting outside is fun.
