Subject: Do towns like stars hollow exist?
The real life locations are Washington for the Inn, New Milford for Stars Hollow, Hartford for the grandparents, Choate for the school.

Guilford is so f#cking nice. I had an ex's whose family was from there, walkable to the ocean. Amazing properties.
I'd also vote for some of the towns in eastern Westchester County, near the CT border - North Salem, South Salem, Pound Ridge. They are a lot more chill than Scarsdale, Rye, Purchase, etc. You can still take Metro North into the city.
Maybe Ridgefield, CT would also fit the bill.

OP, if you don't want to move to Star's Hollow, you can always rent an AirBnB in one of these places for a week in the summer.

Recommending another VT town...Stowe. Has the white church and postcard mountains in the background. Everyone knows everyone, kids ride their bikes everywhere, there is a general store on Main Street, etc. They have a 4th of July parade with fire trucks and Miss Vermont in a convertible. People get their milk at the actual Cabot Creamery.

I'd vote for Montpelier, VT. Walkable cozy downtown with several good restaurants, bars, shops, galleries. Peak New England architecture. Good schools.
Safer and/or less touristy than the towns in Southern Vermont and Burlington, but you're still only 40 minutes from Burlington and 30 from Stowe.
It's a town of only ~7,000 but since it's the capital, it has the amenities of a much larger spot.

The good news is these type of smaller towns in New England, particularly Massachusetts don’t care what your religion is or what is in your bank account. It’s not Alabama.
Yes but instead they are insular and critical and scared of anyone new. There is less diversity and everyone is expected to live a certain way. They absolutely do care what’s in your bank account because if you’re not relatively wealthy you can’t live there.
We moved to Maine a few years ago and this couldn't be further from the truth.

Also on North Bennington (moved here from DC), last winter I had a semi-big branch come down in the front yard. I was at the grocery store and someone I semi-knew came up to me and said, "Hey, I heard you had a branch down!"
Not saw it, but heard about it. Apparently it was the talk of the town.
If that seems "creepy" instead of funny and friendly in a weird way, a small town may not be for you.

North Bennington, VT would be a good candidate. The public elementary school withdrew from the local school system when the larger town threatened to shut it down and merge it into the other local schools. They went private and have been a "private" public school since then.
Very nice community feel and people of immense means can live next to people of extremely modest means, and no one makes a big deal of it at all. And the people of immense means tend to drive old VWs and not BMWs, etc.
As long as you're okay with a complete lack of anonymity, it can be great.

No. Middleburg at heart is extremely wealthy and revolves around horse culture.
Purcellville would be a little closer so far as Loudoun county towns go.
