My state of mind is to focus on what is right in front of me - family, friends and local community. I will watch with detached interest what public administration reforms, to put it lightly, these next 4 years will bring. What I won't do is freak out, get upset, or worry about every outrageous thing he says or does because in a way that is what drives his power. Plus, I don't want to.

You're already mentally ill you idiot, that's why you're posting this drivel on an anonymous forum. Trump broke all of you.
DP. I think the opposite is true. I think Trump appealed to the WORST in you the others who voted for him. You were already broken and he gave you a voice, allowed you to be who you always were, and made you feel better about your lives for a while. If you weren't so broken, you would not be drawn to this anonymous forum to continue raging against "libs" when your side had such big win. Why not be a joyful warrior for Trump and run along? Why keep coming back here to rage and gloat?

Those who voted FOR THIS MAN will now complain and blame the Dems for NOT DOING MORE TO STOP IT.
Dems will be villainized once again. I'm over it.
I told my grandma about his plans for SS
I told my cousin who is married to an immigrant about his plans
I told my aunt about the economy
I told my mom about women's health issues
I talked to everyone until i was blue in the face and you know what? THey still voted for him. Facts didn't matter. Truth didn't matter.
Well, now it is all WHAT will we do to reign him in???
I don't know? Nothing? Sorry Margo but this ship has sailed and i am enjoying a pina colada right now. You figure your own shit out.
Because they were not driven by reason.
There are no rational reasons to vote for Trump.
And yet here we are with 50% voting for him. 35-40% there was no convincing. They are a cult, and believe anything he lies to them about. Most often, it's against their own best interest. Now it's time for them to live with what they voted for---surprize, he doesn't give a shit about you.
The other 10-15% are either rich (so voted for the financial perks of R politics) or racists/mysoginistic that they simply couldn't vote for her. They know what Trump is and stands for, yet they still voted for him. Most of that 10-15% were able to do that because, his policies won't largely affect them (except for the women in their lives).
I live in a Blue area , and there are boys at the local HS telling girls "your body, my choice" in the last week in person and on Social Media. That tells you were we are at in life. UmC/Rich kids near a large city, who feel empowered to talk like that. That tells me that that attitude was normalized at home---the family is racist and mysoginistic. I can assure you my son would never talk like that, because they were not raised that way.

This is the very definition of privilege.
I’m doing much the same, fwiw.

Okay. Time to fix all that. Hop to it and hit the ground running, I guess. People expect results when you hold all the strings.
Exactly this. Let's see how much progress they get on all of the Trump promises based on their own actions. Remember, can't take credit for Biden era policies on anything. I'll especially love to see Trump's "concepts of a plan" for health care that will be superior to Obamacare. I suppose it'll be out a very short period of time.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I think this stance is easier if you are not one of the groups who will be impacted by Trump’s policies.
Well, guess you should have voted and campaigned harder for her? Most groups impacted by Trump VOTED FOR HIM
Because they believe the lies he told. People not smart enough to realize much of what he plans to do will negatively impact him. We tried to tell them. They think we are condescending and chose to vote for him. That is their issue now. Quite frankly, if they are too stupid to vote in their own best interests, we can no longer help them. FAFO
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I supported Harris for president but was ready to oppose many of her policies. I have similar issues with Trump. The Dems deserved to go down just as much as Trump. What is fascinating is how they missed so many obvious signs that they never had the mandates they thought they had for several years. The election had been very thing to do with Dem overreach on identity politics and nothing about Trump. Yes, he is a horrible person, but people already knew that. That is how egregious people felt those politics were. Sure, they like Obamacare but they hate being told things like xyz so you must vote Dem otherwise you’re a self hating so and so, or MAGA, or racist, or misogynistic, or whatever.
Voters want balance and that’s why the same district will vote AOC and Trump.
I’m not happy about some things Trump will do, but the Dem meltdowns are entertaining. I will spend the next four years thinking, I told you so. I have very little empathy for people like OP.
Republicans are the ones that drove their campaigns with identity politics. Just watch any of their commercials. Democrats talked about the economy and body autonomy. Enough with the gaslighting.
Anonymous wrote:I think a lot of anger and hurt chose Trump. There were a lot of voters who stayed home because they couldn't decide between 2 idiots (like me) but they did not wanting to choose Trump per se.
I don't think it's about idiots choosing Trump as much as how devastating the current landscape of US is on so many fronts.
If you want to blame someone, blame the political party of the Democrats for not rising to the occasion - how hard is it to beat a convicted felon with no self control? I had higher expectations for these "smart" professionals, I have zero expectations for the regular Joe. People vote for what they think they need. It's not that people are dumb, it's that people are desperate for change and hope.
Anonymous wrote:Except that I’m afraid we’ll lose our military retirement and our healthcare - and will have to support a parent who will lose SS, we will be fine. We will live in blue states and blue cities. I hold out hope that enough republicans value the constitution that there might actually be a line they draw. Maybe.
