So this federal judicial staff, which was here under Trump, is causing the problem and posters are blaming the District of Columbia? And thinking Trump will fix it this time?
I suppose if there were changes at DOJ that changed the office culture or performance metrics, maybe.
If HUD is impacted in a way that curtails vouchers or instills screening and behavior requirements, that could directly help crime in upper nw and free up a lot of police resources.
I would love to see HUD mandate that any HUD recipient engaging in violent/criminal behavior lose their subsidy immediately and have that supersede any local law to the contrary. That would help a lot to enable landlords to get rid of dangerous tenants. Currently, DC requires that a violent tenant be criminally convicted AND have all appeals exhausted in order to qualify for eviction. I also wouldn't mind a return to a Control Board structure. This Council has done it to themselves.
