Unless the building was uninhabitable I cannot imagine any other choice but to continue. Even in the US, remember when there was an insurrection at the US Capitol during official proceedings? They took a couple hours' break for the custodians to clean up the debris and reconvened and barely ever spoke of it again.

Google says 1.7%, which while still small is nowhere as microscopic as you make it out to be. I know of one intersex person (child), I assume there are quite a few more who like the cardinal did not find out until something else happens.
