Is she married? No. That means she's single.

Are there different lifestyles for single people? Yes.

Divorced isn’t single.

I mean if you use the dictionary for language yes it is

As a single mom without a spouse the more the merrier. I'd prefer to blend in better.

Lol. “Actively involved in raising the kids.” Lol

+1 lololol

I'm loving the people that assume that divorce = getting along perfectly with your ex, while being married means you can't get your ex to do anything to coparent at all.

For all you married moms who need a break - take one, don't be a martyr. Pay for a babysitter for one. But don't crap on single moms who likely face challenges you have no idea about.

No, I think married moms are making the point that being a divorced mom who has 3-4 days “off” per week is easier than being the primary everything every day. Certainly not having a partner or compartment is infinitely harder. No married mother thinks an actual single mother (not a half-time mom) is an easy life.

The definition of a single mom is simple. You have to be single and a mom. I know an unmarried mom who has one healthy kid who was born through donor insemination. She has an enormous trust fund, and does not work, and her one kid goes to boarding school. I know a married mom who works works full time as a nurse, and has a deployed husband. They have 7 kids, including several with significant disabilities. If we defined "single mom" as the person who has it harder, then mom #2 would "win" the title. But obviously that's absurd. Because the definition of single mom is that you are single (not married, not partnered) and a mom. Not that you have it "hard" or "easy".

That’s going to be open to a lot of interpretation.

No, single by choice is the terminology for a woman who makes a choice to become a single parent. I'm a single parent. My kids' father is incarcerated for domestic violence against me and my children. That's not "by choice".

Plus single mom by choice uses donor sperm.

It’s not a failed romantic relationship where the dude leaves you pregnant or later, and you suddenly say that’s your choice.

No. I am a single mom by choice.

I adopted a newborn.

Who is now an adult, BTW.

Ok, so what. You didn’t sleep with someone hoping they’d commit, and they did not.

What?

This was a direct response to the statement that single moms use donor sperm.

That is not always the case.

When I was married I never begrudged divorced moms their days off due to joint custody. They have to deal with difficult exes, paying rent/mortgage by themselves, fixing things in their homes, going years without sex if they don't want to date.

They are women taking it out on other women instead of acknowledging the insane modern parenting model we have with helicopter nuclear families and no universal health or childcare or extended family nearby.
