Because people without passports don’t normally have the notorized documents on hand the day of the election when they are denied the ability to vote. Especially married p women, who may need to document a name change, in addition to a motorized birth certificate.

People can get any required documents. They have their whole life and 2 years between elections to do so.
Once again, are you a US citizen or from another country trolling on here?

But if I didn’t and I was purged, I could not provide proof of name change after marriage on demand to get from my maiden name to my married name. I have the birth certificate. But formal name changes weren’t required required in the state where I was married in the 1990s. I’d probably need a social security card. And since I’ve used my passport for W2s, I have no idea where it is. I couldn’t produced it day of to be allowed to vote.

Are you a citizen? Because you seen weirdly fine with taking away the voting rights of US citizens because one Governor has declared himself above federal law.

Serious question. Do you know this or are you assuming it’s true?

Nobody is providing any evidence to show it is true.

Here, let me write a post for you, with links, that you can ignore, since that’s how you’ve remained a Republican so far.

Alabama: “Republican Secretary of State Wes Allen in August announced an initiative “to remove noncitizens registered to vote in Alabama.” More than 3,000 people who had been previously issued noncitizen identification numbers will have their voter registration status made inactive and flagged for possible removal from the voter rolls. The Justice Department said both native-born and naturalized U.S. citizens, who are eligible to vote, received the letters saying their voting status was being made inactive.” https://www.wvtm13.com/article/justice-department-alabama-lawsuit-voter-rolls/62455133

Louisiana: with zero evidence, Gov Landry is sure that non-citizens are voting: https://lailluminator.com/2024/08/27/gov-landry-targets-noncitizens-in-louisiana-claiming-immigrants-pose-voter-fraud-risk/

Tennessee: only after a major outcry did they back off from their threat to remove over 14000 voters from the rolls. https://apnews.com/article/voting-citizenship-tennessee-7802df69609bc54eb55d9296f6321100

This happened in 2020 as well but the busy little bees who help massage Google results have effectively removed all those stories from view. I could go on, but it’s honestly pearls after swine since you won’t read it, much like the “I’m a rationale conservative thread” on which it’s been amply proven that Republicans like to choose their voters and suppress the rest.

People who receive a letter that they are a non-citizen and aren’t allowed to legally vote just have to provide proof they are a legal citizen. I have to provide proof to register to vote; why don’t other people have to do
so?

The vast majority of US citizens don’t have a notarized birth certificate

False, everyone has to have one of those to get a Real ID driver's license now. And they aren't "notarized". Are you even a US citizen?

And I’m not just I’m a citizen. I’m a Federal lawyers.

Yeah you sound like it. Hello fellow citizen!

He broke the law. He can but, and or if it. He’s still breaking federal law. For people who are generally so absolutely about the sanctity of federal voting laws, you seem very okay with Youngkin break federal voting laws.

Taking dead people off the voter roles is not voter fraud, PP. get over it.

This is political weaponization of the DOJ like we’ve never seen before. Dems must be getting some bad news via internal polling to get this desperate.

Federal law says it is both a crime and voter fraud. I’m sorry you don’t like the law. But we all have laws we dislike and have to live with. Ask women carrying dead babies in Texas. Except powerful Republican men. It appears the argument is that they are above the law.

Non-citizens do not have the right to vote. Why is the DOJ going to bat for non-American citizens to vote?

You know why. Everyone knows why.

Sure. Because some citizens are being removed as well. And if the don’t have things like original birth certificates, could be prevented from voting even if the are and have always been US citizens. And because what Younkin is doing is clearly illegal. Even if you like it, she’s still committing a crime. Like son like father.

Noticed you changed your wording from "notarized" to the correct "original". Google or someone give you the update?

Real ID is not a proof of US citizenship. Non-citizens who are in the U.S. legally (eg Green Card Holders) can also get a Real ID and they are not citizens who can vote in federal elections.

So there needs to be stricter voting standards than what are currently in place.

Perhaps 4-5 forms of ID required, and "in-person voting" only then. Maybe the dip the thumb in ink thing also.

It's appalling that many really poor countries have more strict and legitimate elections than we have here.

why? there isn't a problem. zero proof of significant voter fraud, and were there is, it is republicans.

So why aren't you for stricter rules then?

Why do you not want fair and transparent elections?

The ONLY way out of this fraud mess is to have everyone's vote recorded and publicly viewable online as to how they voted. That way EVERYONE can audit any election and count and verify the votes.

So let's do that. Only reason people would be against that is they want more fraud.

Happy to point this out to you. From the Washington Post:

In a first, noncitizens are voting in D.C. Here’s what it means to them.
More than 500 noncitizen District residents have registered to vote, according to the D.C. Board of Elections.

They came to the United States from El Salvador, Ethiopia and Iran to study, earn money and escape violence. And they all found a home in the nation’s capital. They are not U.S. citizens, but they care about issues in their communities, including education, health care and affordable housing.

And for the first time, these noncitizen residents — some of whom have lived here for decades and have children who were born here — will have a say in how their communities are run: They are among the more than 500 noncitizen District residents who have registered to vote and have cast their ballots or are heading to the polls Tuesday to pick their representatives on the D.C. Council.

So you are wrong. Noncitizens, aka illegal immigrants are voting in the US.

These people did not vote in federal elections. Local and state voting for non-citizens is up to that jurisdiction. You are confusing the two, or just not that bright.

That does not matter. You/PP keep saying that illegal aliens don't vote; we keep telling you that they do.

People without US citizenship should have zero rights to vote on anything in the US. Local or not.

And I’m telling you that if this was an actual problem, Youngkin had 2.5 years when it was legal for him to do something about it. Now, it’s not legal. You seem to be saying it fine for him to violate federal law to stop other people from violating federal law— like he is. Do you hear the hypocrisy?

President Biden address this already, very early in his term. It’s right in a White House transcript. The problem is, as the president explained, blacks and other minorities often don’t have access to the internet or don’t know how to get a drivers license. So it’s unfair to require a drivers license to vote. Biden explained it all already.

Only a racist asshat would truly believe that black people don't know how to gain access, or use the internet. Let alone knowing how to get a drivers license.

Do you even hear yourself? No wonder that black people are starting to leave the democratic party. geez.

A drivers license isn’t proof of citizenship. In fact, Youngkin is illegally purging voter roles based on how people answered questions when applying for drivers licenses. To show citizenship, it’s more than you license. It’s a passport (most poor people do not have) or a notorized birth certificate. Plus for married women, official proof of name changes.

Non citizens are not necessarily "illegal immigrants" - they can be green card holders or have some other status. Your ignorance is shining through.

30 Years of Non-Citizen Voting in Takoma Park: November marks the 30th anniversary of the first non-U.S. residents voting in Takoma Park.

The landmark initiative first passed by the Takoma Park City Council in 1992 gave immigrants—regardless of their legal status—the right to vote in municipal elections. In Takoma Park, nearly one-third of the residents are foreign-born, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Here is another:

"Noncitizens are eligible to vote if they are at least 18 years old as of Election Day, have been a D.C. resident for at least 30 days before the election" <- You only have to live in DC for 30 days to vote in local elections.

This means that illegal immigrants can and do vote in DC and Maryland. I am perfectly okay with Younkin making sure that the right to vote in my state of Virginia is only a right of US citizens.

Hey moron. Those are local elections only. DC Residents and Takoma Park residents can’t vote for federal office holders. TP noncitizen residents can’t vote for state office holders. And no one has shown a significant number of non eligible voters are trying to vote in VA. For someone so upset about the virtually nonexistent problem of ineligible people breaking federal law to vote in VA, you seem fine with Youngkin breaking federal law and ignoring the quiet period. And Youngkin’s son violating the law and attempting to vote when he was not eligible. This hypocritical- the law must be obeyed unless someone named Youngkin is the one breaking it mentality is hypocrisy at its worst.
