The racist incident you're talking about - kids putting up American flags that has been co-oped by changing it's appearance and it's meaning - happened at Tucker's old college.

We oddly wound up nearby on our way to a family wedding in Scranton this past weekend. The area surrounding Dickinson is Trumpy AF. We were in a Ford F150 and I really wanted to fly a ginormous Harris flag from the back of it just to confuse people.

Not sure if the campus and actual town is that bad, but the road going straight north into town was definitely red, red, red.

I like that lots of people are mentioning Trinity. I feel like their alum group here is really strong (my husband went there - I had never heard of it before I met him). And my high school best friend (Originally from WI) is sending her daughter there this year. It's a really lovely place.

- The hidden gem suggestion — lots of resources, great education, strong outcomes, merit aid — was Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.

- nearly 2,000 miles from Trinity University is a an entirely different college, which has nothing whatsoever to do with Trinity University and was not mentioned as a hidden gem.

- On this entirely distinct campus that is wholly irrelevant to this discussion, thousands of miles away, something happened with flags that made Fox News and has zero to do with this discussion.

- Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas is, in fact, a hidden gem.

It's in a sleepy suburb of 40k between Glendale and Pasadena. When I went there no on went into LA because a) you need a car - public trans is poor there; b) traffic! and c) why would you? Angelenos know there is nothing downtown. We never even went to the beach. Car and traffic issues. We stayed on campus and went to local eateries for burgers and Mexican food

Can't forget Randolph College. Such an adorable little campus and we loved the Take2 model. It is in a consortium with ULynchburg and Sweet Briar, so there are options if you want to take classes that aren't offered at Randolph.
