Rockville has had 2 bad principals in a row. They need to get an actual good one for the next school year.

I have mixed thoughts about Brown. My two kids both had Brown while they were still at Einstein, and they didn't seem to have much problems with him. Based on my discussion with some of the other parents with kids at Einstein, it seems like he needs to improve his leadership with the students.

Ms. Snead seems to have positive feedback from Blake parents from what I've heard. She's caring and she has good responsibility for teachers and students at the school. I'm not sure about Valentine for Springbrook however.

Principals' days are complex. The system sends them sample letters so they don't have to focus on that and more on the issue at hand. Wouldn't you want that or your child's principal? Or do you want them ignoring other pressing matters because they have to write a letter from scratch?

Stephanie Valentine at Springbrook HS is a menace and running a dictatorship. I don’t feel welcome when I come to the school and the principal dictates to me where I am supposed to sit and wait, and if my child can or cannot enter the school. Lots of staff left in the last year and i fear more on the way out.

Meanwhile MCPS insists principals make all the decisions. Who's telling the truth? Both or neither?

I think elementary principals in general are the weak link.

He is really a big zero. Many, many staff do not like him at all. And he was universally disliked at Blake where he was before Einstein. I’m glad you’re having a good experience with him as a parent anyway!

Very disliked at RM as an assistant principal too. Not responsive at all to me or my kid who has an IEP

Funny enough I ended up getting a lot of help from the guy who is principal at Northwood when he was assistant principal at RM and it seems people like him there also

Dr. Garrick at Northwood is wonderful. He's kind, genuine, likes kids, and has a good rep among the staff as well, as far as I can tell.

Great! He's currently at Einstein for two months, supervising the principal intern.

I can't point to any meaningful influence my principal has on the school. I guess that makes the principal good at their job as an administrator. I don't want drama.

Why do you say that the Whitman principal is "reactive" and "short sighted" ?

Pyle principal is excellent, fair and student centered. Whitman (new this year) reactive and short sighted.

Principals are only as good as the parents and teaches that share their vision. Disunity might make a principal seem "bad" in one school but their leadership may very well fit in with another one depending on community needs. In any case, MCPS policies are dictated in large part by people above school leadership.
