what time was the show?
My 7 yo was in bed at 8, so there wasn’t a conflict.
My DD is usually in bed by 8, asleep by 9. I thought the show would end at 9. I thought it was a 1 hour show.
It is the only live show we have ever watched together. We have football on live on weekends but she isn’t watching.
That’s the risk you take allowing a kid to watch a show running past 9 PM. Seriously. If the show runs past 9, you have to assume that the networks are running adult ads. Our 7 yo never watched a show past 9. If it was gonna run that late, then we would tape in advance, purged such ads, then watch as a family.
We don’t watch much tv. I realized it was the premier so thought it would be nice to watch as a family. I have never watched a live survivor show before today.
If you can’t prerecord shows and watch them later, at least mute them during commercials. Especially during an election cycle, you can expect dramatic adds from both sides that deal with issues candidates want voters to care about.
All kinds of mature topics come up on shows like survivor. We used to watch amazing race as a family when dd was 7ish. She didn’t wince at same-sex couples, etc. However, some of the issues that come up in campaign adds can be much harder to explain than “love is love”.

OP, you did nothing wrong watching a show with your kids. Other posters are just mean and judgmental.
But I agree that this ad is the reality that we are living in due to extreme GOP. We can’t just wish it away.
You made a comment about caring about babies. Are you talking about the babies who were raped by their parents?
I didn’t make the baby comment. I am pro choice but this is not the issue I am voting on. I did write I don’t like either candidate. I didn’t like Harris when she originally was running for president back in 2020 and I don’t like her now. I’m not sure which candidate I dislike more.
One candidate shoved a woman against a wall and sexually assaulted her and one did not.
I’m voting on economy, immigration and who I think can keep us from WW3. Abortion is not what I’m voting on.
Well, that's silly since lack of access to abortion is directly tied to the economy, and Trumps tarrifs (did you see he will now add tariffs to food, per his event yesterday, which economists think is bonkers) will make all goods cost more. I also would prefer someone who can prevent WWIII without being a dictator. You know who else is a peacenik, Kim Jong-un. See how it's going in North Korea with no imports, no war?

I love when Republicans post as if they’re sober judges or character whose policy concerns are more important than everyone else’s.

Not a great response but still a million times better than Kamala’s brilliant plan of government imposed food price controls.

Lower to force children to carry their rapists’ pregnancy to term.
Does this need to be on a tv ad?
You seem more upset about the ad than the fact that hundreds of child rape victims will be forced to carry their rapists baby because of Trump's court and overturning of Roe.

If the GOP hasn't repealed Roe and put women in a position to fight for their rights, the commercial would not have been necessary. Why is a 7 year old watching survivor? Shouldn't she be in bed on a school night?
This ad actually made me not want to vote for Harris. Had the opposite effect for me.

What a moron. The reason we import a lot of produce is because it's cheaper to do so. That said I do think our ag industry needs a reckoning, we need to break up a lot of the industrial monoculture (miles and miles of nothing but soybeans or corn isn't good for beans) and grow more diverse crops locally rather than being so dependent on foreign countries for them. If we can subsidize those soybean and corn crops then why can't we help out farmers who actually FEED us?
