Not the same issue but I would go to my grandmas house after school until my mom got home from work. I was around that age 7 or 8 ish and I remember getting off the bus and running to her house because I guess I forgot to use the bathroom. I ran through the front door and didnt make it to the bathroom on time. She was SO mad that she made me wear a pull up the next couple days because she couldnt trust me! That was VERY embarrassing.
Making an older child use a bottle/sippy cup or diapers is humiliating in my opinion.
I guess it’s different kids. I too liked chewing on the straw of my water bottles to this day. I hate the paper straws as they now die right after I get them. I had my sippy straw bottle for many years too because it had my favourite character on it even though it was totally chewed on. I kept it at home though but friends who stayed over knew I still drank from it probably. I think this sippy cup thing bothers the parents more than the child.

I think hydroflasks or the cheaper themo flask (made by same company?) with the straw is good. There will be some teeth marks showing but the thing is as hard as anything and won’t crack despite my tween chewing on it lots. It’s also still stylish enough and yet the straw is not overly childish. You can also buy replacement tops if it gets really bad but so far I leave it. Her friends will be the reminder. I heard one of her friends who helped her grab her bottle from the breeches look at her bottle and say eewww why does your waterbottle have so much bite marks. She slowed down on her chewing on the straw after that comment.

Is grade 3 too old for a straw water bottle/sippy? My daughter loves waterbottles with a straw that she can chew on. She has this habit and sport spouts are chewed to bits and deep chew marks. So was thinking of the contigo flip straw bottle as a replacement for her nubby that she has used for years. Seems pretty sturdy and no bite marks are left?
