NP here. I mean, good for them. Every parent has to do whatever they think is best for their kids. Paragon is not MLS Next so I assume the family wanted to move to the MLS Next league and moved over to SYC.

This season, DCU picked up the following for their 2011 group. I am sure there were more but these are the ones I know.
5 from VDA to DCU
2 from Arlington to DCU
1 from Alexandria to DCU
0 from SYC
This is what baffles me about SYC. They said they have good players and develop them, supports their players but not able to place any players for 2011 and little to no one in the other age groups with DCU. They have good players and the conclusion that makes any sense is SYC is not advocating for their players and potentially blocking them from being picked up.

They’ve all been instrumental in giving him the development and environment he needed at those times. And I would do it publicly on social media so they’ll feel comfortable taking some credit for his development.

Firsthand experience when our DC showed interest in DCU our coach started giving him the cold shoulder. We have another teammate who has a lot of interest in moving to DCU but the coach never advocated for him. His parents were the one who reached out to DCU for more information.
Last week, SYC promoted a player who moved to Philly Union. The irony of that is SYC did not develop that player. The player came to SYC last season and has been playing with a different club prior. SYC only uses the move to promote themselves. Said again and again, SYC is not here to develop players. They are in the business of making money.

Pls elaborate on syc. I sense this but thought it just my paranoia. I assume Club wants to see their players to go far and help them reach their goals.
What club was the kid that move to Philly at before they were at SYC?
I think the family was with Paragon.
Gotcha, seems to be the family used SYC to get exposure on the MLNext platform.
Which admittedly, we have do so as well for DS (not at SYC tho).
5 players from any one club to a professional academy is a lot
Their old team must have been exceptionally dominant last year
I think the max they can take from 1 team is 3

Not necessarily. My kid has been "watch listed" meaning they've asked for his schedule and went to his games. But, did not receive an invite to join the club at this point. No idea if he's on the territory list.
In MLS terms, being watch-listed means, "We don't want you, but we'll prevent you from going anywhere else."
