My cousin who is 67 still lives at home and both her parents already died of old age. That is strange. She still lives in the house she lived in as a newborn.

Even stranger. They built a massive shopping mall next door to her house in the late 1960s. I recalled hearing Dad was furious they have to look at a big shopping mall forever. After 50 years or so the mall shut down, was torn down and now they are building condos there.

When she came home from Hospital it was a Farm next to her house and it was 1958.

Is that what you want for your kid?

60K is ok income if one is planning to get married to a man who makes a bit more and you combine incomes. Which is what she should be doing.

I'm 60 and grew up on a farm in rural Virginia. I, and both of my parents, grew up in multigenerational houses.

Everyone will have to work together to make it work. Multigenerational living will be common.

That's what happens in India, multigenerational families live and share resources due to financial and cultural restrains. Works out well for a quarter, uncomfortable for half and a living hell for the rest.
