Between 9-9:30pm. Usually up by7am but school doesn't start until 9am.

We have black out blinds so this isn't an issue thankfully. The kids understand it's brighter in the summer at 7 pm, etc. Whatever time you set with your kids, they're like us ... if you go to bed at the same time every day your body starts to feel sleepy at that time. When our child isn't tired at 7 pm, we'll move it back, but as it stands now our child is asleep within minutes!

It’s fully bright at 7pm right now but not for long! Just wait until it starts getting dark by 5pm, we’ll all wish for a 7pm bedtime.
My kids were asleep at 7:30 on Monday because the first day of school was exhausting. 2nd and 4th graders.

Same here. On sports days they get 9.5 to 10hrs sleep. Other days about 10.5?hrs.

Kids have different sleep needs. 4th grade might be extreme, but I certainly know 2nd graders with a similar bedtime. These kids were amazing sleepers as babies and are a mess if they don't get tons of sleep. Having a high sleep needs kid is great when they're tiny, but it's kind of nice to have a low sleep needs kid when their older. If you haven't seen the extreme differences between kids up close, you wouldn't know.

She's getting enough sleep without a nap.

Mine were still sleeping 12 hours at that point.

Dc9’s new bedtime schedule is 9pm-7am, since DC11 started MS and sleeps 9pm-5:30am.

10 pm is way too late for a school night.

I have a kid the same age. 9 or 9:30 at the absolute latest. Changing to to 8:30 or 9.

How? I am not even off the clock until 5:30, usually it’s 6:15 by the time I actually finish work. Drive home, then to even get in the house, go pee, wash hands, change out of work clothes to prevent staining those while cooking, then to even begin dinner isn’t until 7:30.

I didn’t even put in the time for heavy traffic. That’s exactly why I’m trying to figure out what hours these people are working.

A lot of us chose to live near where we work. I have a 15 minute commute. I'm home by 5:30.

It takes more than 15 minutes to go five feet inside of Tysons Corner, Merrifield, anywhere in Fairfax County these days.

I drive from Falls Church to Arlington. It takes me 15 minutes. Again, DH and I prioritized finding housing near where we worked. Is it a big fancy modern farmhouse McMansion? Nope. Does living close to work make our lives so much better and allow to spend time with our children? Yes, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

That is luck. I say this as someone who’s experienced a lay-off. I was laid off from a job in Ashburn ten years ago after moving to Loudoun to be close to said job. Terrible experience. Trying to find an equally paying opportunity with kids in school without moving them with every job I take, just isn’t possible . Landed in DC, worked all across NOVA.

I wouldn't allow my kid to stay that late. When he was 8 swim team would go 5-630. We left at 6p to get home, eat, do homework, then bed. Always in bed by 8. Now he's 9 and lights out at 9, in bed by 830 to read, shower at 8. Dinner is around 630 every night. We are very regular.

But why? That rigidity is so sad.
