Funny that you think mommies are less fake in those other places.
Good luck.

I live in North Arlington, trust me when I tell you this happens here, too. If you're not cute and white and blonde, you're not part of the bus stop crew. Your kid might be invited to the bus stop end of year party, but you will be largely ignored.
This makes me a lot happier about my community. All of the moms are mostly Indian and most of them group together, but we still smile at each other and talk from time to time. I don’t think they’re gossiping about me or other moms! There are a few other non Indian moms (three or so) and we also chat from time to time but we aren’t friends. I try to suggest group activities so our kids can go to same camp, sport. That’s basically all we talk about. Me and one other mom who is European are the only white moms. I guess living in an immigrant community has its perks. Being super close to the neighbors can get very awkward if there is a clash. We live in townhouses so we are all super close to each other.
Where do you live? Where I live the Indian moms are definitely gossiping, it's just that you don't know it because they are talking in their mother tongues. They are also terribly snobby about leaving about American borns like me.

I often keep to myself, befriend the more normal minority/immigrants, avoid the gossip, and am nice but not overly social. It gets better as the kids get older and you don't need to socialize as much. I can't wait to leave when the kids go off to college.
So how do we find friends who are not just superficial friends but still live in a nice area. Are the two incompatible?

maybe try the Del Rey part of Alexandria.
Or Springfield seems to have more down to earth people?
You mean the moms of Del Ray that have "Everyone is Welcome Here!" signs in their yard but sneak out at night to vandalize JD Vance's home? Or the ones that started a petition to get his wife and kids banned from local establishments?
In fairness, JD Vance is human garbage, so no one wants that in their neighborhood. Not because of his background or appearance, but because of his loathsome positions and loving Trump.
So you are cool with it if people vandalize other people’s homes when they disagree with their policy views? Or is it just when YOU disagree with their policy views?

What?? Alexandria has terrible schools!

TBH, this is true all over the country in UMC circles. I have friends complaining about this cattiness in Michigan, Southern California, Florida, nice suburbs of Dallas Texas, and definitely in NW DC, Bethesda, Potomac, and Northern VA. It's a thing UMC women do to jockey with one another for status. It's exhausting and such a "luxury" pastime. Oh, and be sure to tag everyone in your IG story!
My kids go to a public in DC with lots of international families, OOB kids, and vast majority of families are dual income. There's less of this mom-led cliquey'ness than in the suburban schools, IMHO.
