I'm not married. I don't have kids.

NP. To be fair, this website is called “DC Urban Moms and Dads” so don’t be surprised if people assume you’re a parent in the DC area.

Is this what you’re doing or what you WISH you were? I think the latter based on vernacular alone.

Hiking in this heat? Makes me wish we lived in VT!

Hope you have plenty of photos of your kids with ten fingers and vision (too bad they don’t have smarter parents).

I'm going to have a nice solo dinner tomorrow and watch the fireworks. Trying to feel less alone.

You are not alone…in feeling this way.

People with children should really savor the young years. When they leave…life becomes much less vibrant.

Late lunch on the grill, probably burgers.

We usually hang out on our porch and watch the neighborhood fireworks. Texted a few neighbors today to see if they'd be around, so now we have an impromptu gathering shaping up. We'll set out some bags of chips and a cooler of beer and soda for whoever wants to show up.

What do I wish I were doing? Pretty much what I have planned. Fun, active, social, but low stress.

This post seems like it was written by AI under the search terms “what do rich white people do on the 4th of July?” Lol.

Can any subject or post be discussed without race being introduced?? I beg of you…

Doing nothing, with no one.

Here is my preference:

1) go back to when my child was young and we had a picnic or went fishing/boating, then watched fireworks on a lawn

2) go back to my childhood, when our whole family went to my high school to watch the fireworks. Saw my friends, ate summer treats.

3) get invited to a BBQ at someone’s house. Bring a delicious dish to share.

Nothing about this is “playing it by the ear”.

It is to me. No Friday plans except 9pm dinner. No Saturday plans until evening show/dinner. No plans Sunday until heading out around 8pm.
