I think timing had to do with this as well. How long ago did you book this travel? Did you know on Monday that you be leaving on Friday? Even with block scheduling, that gave your son 1, maybe even 2 chances to notify the teacher and ask about the missed assignment IN PERSON. Then during advisory, before, or after school, he could have gotten the verbal directions. I would chalk this up to poor advance planning on your part.

The OP doesn’t want the kid to have to wait until after the weekend. She expects the teacher to email the missed assignment for vet the weekend. Nope.

OP, does your DC's school have an Advisory period? My response to emails like that are: "Thanks so much for being responsible and reaching out. I'll request you for Advisory on XXXX, and we'll go over the assignment then."
