There will be no 2028 dem nominee if you sit out to “teach them a lesson”. You may think you’re being altruistic but you’re actually being naive and self-centered. And it will harm America.

So you think Trump will outlaw elections? How will he do that?
That’s not how it works. The outcome is just pre-determined. It has the appearance of a real election, but it’s not. Remember “do not congratulate”? And good luck “sticking it to the man” by voting for the opposition. You’re watched forever and well, if you’re at all informed about politics, you know what happens to the opposition, unfortunately.
OK you think New York and California are going to let Trump “pre determine” the outcome of their state-run elections? Really? Are you new to the constitution?

Don’t come crying to the rest of us when you realize you sat on your hands when the threat of authoritarianism loomed over America. There’s no such thing as a protest vote.
Who do you think will be learning the lesson here?
If Biden loses, other than removing him from office, what benefit is there to Palestinian supporters? What do you believe Trump, in conjunction with the Republicans on Congress will do differently?
DP, but it seems clear to me that this is a medium/long-term play to bend the Democratic leadership to follow where the youth are leading it. Its a calculated risk to have four years of Trump to get a "better" candidate in 28+. Its about the only move one can make to break the Israeli control of American politics.
This precisely. It’s a sacrifice for a better future. As in the one those students have to live in.
Hopelessly naive. College students aren’t voting on Israel/Gaza. They protest. That’s what college kids do. That’s what I did. US policy in Israel isn’t changing regardless of party is in power.

Not sure what else you want him to say.
He's not likely going to make any sort of a statement about protests because it will be used against him politically.
This is going to lose him the election.
No, spoiled cowardly brats in Ivy League colleges don't play well with ordinary working class people, many of whom have children in the military. People like you and those demonstrating will never lift a finger in armed combat just like your "cadet bone spur" who evaded Viet Nam.
I am not a Jew but Israel was attacked and has every right to retaliate. Human should have given more thought to their barbaric attack.

Vietnam policy changed.
South Africa faced sanctions.
College students protest…and things change.
In order for things in Israel/Gaza to change, the Israelis themselves will need to protest and be agents of change. International pressure has not influenced Netanyahu, it needs to come from within.

No. Why do you think he should? US foreign policy is not dictated by entitled college kids living on Daddy's $$$$ and who have never, and will never, serve their county in the military or in any other way. The frightening aspect is that many of these dilatantes will be in positions of authority and national importance some day.
The Viet Nam demonstrations did influence national politics and the upshot was that we got Nixon. I must admit that Nixon was a kindergartener compared to Trump but that's another story.

I think there is going to be a lot of lane switching and politics shifting happening across the board. I think that’s good. People need to vote on issues rather than pick a party. Now if only the moderate Republicans and moderate non-progressive Democrats could get together and disempower both the pro Hamas mob and the right wing extremists that would be great. Extremism is bad for the country, from either direction.
Democracies aren't ruled by a criminal despot or right wing religious zealots.
The US was in 2017-2020 and was still considered a democracy.
