The Michigan administration perceives that admitting many private school east coasters is what separated them from Wisconsin 30 years ago.
Try 50 years ago Wisconsin would admit more private school applicants, if they could get them.
Wrong. Wisconsin lifted their OOS cap 5 years ago. Previously, only 27% of the student body could be from OOS, meaning the rest had to be in state Wisconsin students. This isn't Texas or California: Wisconsin in state is a VERY VERY small market. Michigan has been half OOS at least since the 90s, coincidentally when Michigan started to see alot of NYC talent come in.

Purdue might see a bump because of its basketball success.
Otherwise, "destination" colleges where the city is attractive to international students. Boston, New York, Los Angeles. So BU, NEU, BC, NYU, Columbia, USC, UCLA. Tulane, they are seeing a decrease in applications. Between eg, Boston and New Orleans, I can't see New Orleans winning that battle.

Nope. It’s been 40% acceptance rate in recent years and even going back 10 years it’s hovered between 50-60% acceptance. That’s not a safety for “most.”
