Really, why are you calling MO “nothing” compared to HRC, or anyone? Each woman (even if they didn’t marry a man who became president) is who they are, and has strengths and weaknesses. Tbh, HRC took advantage of her education to marry a man destined for heights, and leveraged her position to the best of her ability. I don’t get the point of pitting former First Ladies against each other and dissecting their lives. If FL’s hadn’t married men who were elected president, we wouldn’t even know their names or anything about their lives. Political marriages at the level of the presidency are carefully scripted. We don’t really know any of these women. It’s like rating hollywood marriages; we don’t know the reality of hollywood marriages and what really goes on behind the scenes. We are basically discussing women we don’t know who are extremely wealthy and privileged. Give any random woman the privilege and wealth of a First Lady and I bet that woman would be just as “accomplished” as any of them. It’s easy to be “accomplished” when you have a staff organizing and coordinating your every move, maids and cooks, people to walk your dog and wash your clothes, a staff to style your hair, makeup, wardrobe, people writing your speeches, people driving you around and making sure you are where you’re supposed to be, etc.

Would you ask that question about any man?

If the husband of a former (female) president wanted to be president, absolutely. I don’t think being an attorney married to a former president qualifies any man or woman to be an elected official, Sec of State, or president. It just doesn’t. Hillary didn’t even take her very successful husband’s advice during her campaigns, talk about arrogance. How does being the spouse of an elected official impart brilliance upon said spouse? Supporting your spouse does not give you any special abilities or expertise. Do you think VP Harris’s husband is somehow especially suited to run for office?

I don’t think an argument can be made here against HRC, Abigail Adam’s, Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosalynn Carter, Michelle Obama. They stand on the shoulders of those who came before them. Each had a distinct role in furthering women’s equality.

HRC is brilliant, and not without fault, but she would have prevented the mess we are in now. Hate her or love her, it is a fact.

Rosalynn Carter was a fierce activist and humanitarian. She played a huge part in exposing the oppression of Palestinians.

Michelle Obama was also brilliant— Princeton and Harvard law. The first AA FL who presented a family first home. Her mother lived in the White House as an extra caregiver for her young granddaughters. America loved Marian! Michelle advocated for young women to “reach higher.”

Jackie O was America’s darling. A writer and art enthusiast. She opened the White House doors for a peek at a more modernized White House and love of art.

Many young women currently in office credit RBG for leading their path.

It wasn’t easy for any of them to shine given the challenges they faced.

I mean, yes, but her accomplishments are mostly linked to her celebrity from having been first lady.

Other than Rosalynn Carter, what First Lady did something after leaving the WH?

Eleanor Roosevelt and Jacqueline Kennedy, to name two.

What did Jackie do?

She was an editor at Doubleday

I wasn’t impressed by MO. Although I think most of her efforts as FL were towards children. And it’s easy to talk about physical education, gardening, dieting, etc.

Hillary always sounds intelligent and insightful of politics and current events. Hillary chose poorly for campaign manager.

And don’t forget that the 2008 primary was stolen from her by the DNC to be the presidential candidate. She easily would have beaten McCain.

Hillary Clinton is the most qualified person to ever run for President and was grossly overqualified for an unpaid fluff job of first lady.

The least qualified and laziest FLOTUS is Melania Trump.

What were Hillary’s qualifications?

The whole Kathy Shelton ordeal was awful. I don’t have star worship for a woman who lied about a child who was raped.

Qualifications? What are any man’s qualifications to run for any office? She at least had intelligence.

Lawyer - she's a lawyer

Definitely true, but DCUM posters are damp over Yale Law School + the marrying well + her constant self promotion.

Jackie O was definitely the most accomplished. Well bred, nothing to prove, married well twice, impeccable taste in clothing and interior design, attentive mother, supportive wife.

Absolutely not. Jackie O married well. Did not accomplish anything.

As first lady, which was her profession at the time, she was sublime. Was she a shrill and tedious self-promoter before and after? No.

It is not a profession. Getting a role because of you husband is not a profession.

She was paid for it. There are multiple ways to be successful as a woman, and imho being a successful white housewife is one of them. When great First Ladies comes up she is always part of the conversation for her elegance
