I have what feels like an irrational hatred toward California closets.

This is stupid, and you do not know the meaning of tacky.

The mess expands and the ones I’ve seen have a huge drop down vent over the island, which is an eyesore.

Ah, got it. The one I used had a surface vent between the burners (which I realize is fairly useless). But as a non-fan of the current trend of huge-vent-as-focal point, I would not love that.

Being asked to "sign in" and provide personal contact information to an agent.

To have no yard work.

And outdoor space? No thanks.

All of the turnoffs listed here so far are rational so don't apply to OP.

Except the bathtub on the first floor thing. That is irrational.

Primary closets that are off of the ensuite.

Having a whole side of your house with no windows (bathrooms and closets are usually stacked to one side in this instance).

Most any house that is younger than me. Kitchen sinks in a corner. Insufficient windows in the main living areas. Location; boonies, busy roads. Brass colored hardware. Hard tile floors.

Sure, some of these can be fixed. These things are just a turn off that puts me on the wrong foot.

Vaulted ceilings. They make a room look cold and tacky.

Yes I HATE this.

Bathtubs facing the toilet. It just kills that "spa" vibe.

Note, I have a tiny house, so "spa" just means I can close the bathroom door and my kids don't knock.

Hollow core doors. Especially the ones that are like fake wood veneer and start separating at the bottom and snagging the carpet.

I hate stacked (vs offset) tile. Unless I had the budget to demo and retile, I'd strongly consider passing on a place because of that.
