Lyndon Johnson had a primary opponent in New Hampshire who almost beat him. Biden does not.

I think what people don’t realize is that in a world where Joe Rogan is getting more popular and powerful by the day, comedians like Maher will rise, and comedians like Stewart will fall. It doesn’t help Stewart that he is coming off increasingly strident and unwilling to poke whatsoever at sacred shibboleths of the left (the Stewart of old would never have been so muted). So, Maher is essentially moving into the role that Stewart used to occupy but doesn’t any more, as Americans in general move away from extremism on both sides.

Joe Rogan is popular because he comes across as likeable and not insane, and not in the pocket of an individual political party. Maher is popular for the same reason. Stewart gained fame and popularity for that reason, but his recent run is so blindly partisan that it looks like he won’t be able to continue that course.
