IMG has always provided a good home for those players not good enough to excel locally.

I can see the vision, and thus the interest from DCU. It's all conceptual at this stage, but I get it. Proof will be in the pudding. And VRSC may be the place to be today, but it won't be the place to be for the kids already there tomorrow. U8 Academy age, yes, but anything above...not so much. The true Academies are rich with talent - turnkey/plug-and-play players and players with massive upside. Very little (to no) room to spend time and resources developing kids playing NCSL division 3, 4, and 5 or CCL. So, foresee a lot of kids and parents being on the outside looking in, supporting a vision that has nothing to do with them. Could be that nothing actually changes with VRSC, with the exception of an Academy made-up with a bunch of kids that aren't coming from VRSC.

This can all be true, and VRSC being the future home of elite soccer. Not saying I agree or it like it just saying that this is likely to happen

Yup! I guess the "if you build it they will come" approach works. Congrats to VRSC for getting the MLS NEXT patch, but unless they can snag the best kids from other clubs to actually compete, it's just a management accomplishment. We know they can't develop kids from within. And if they did, they're likely no longer with the club.

IMG Mid-atlantic is coming to VRSC, so yes they may struggle initially in MLSN and GA, but they are literally building the "infrastructure" for any baller not wiling to go to FL or CA to be part a residential training and school environment. So they are building it and the top players from Northeast and mid-atlantic will come.

LOL!!!!

Yeah, because those with 75k to spend are always the best.

In girls soccer that is empirically very sad but all truth

This is the best thing I've read on these boards. Made me spit out my coffee.

Well, for the GA, no, you don't need a history of anything. Just having things like "vision" and "infrastructure" are good enough. I expect a lot of other EDP and NCSL clubs were delighted to learn that and look forward to being accepted into the GA next year.

Then I guess it must be true! I look forward to watching some friendlies between NVA, other local ECNL clubs, and/or other local MLS NEXT clubs in the near future. Not sure where VRSC is going to pull talent from, though. Loudoun RL or lower? GFR, maybe?

Because they would lose Ecnl for the girls side.
give it s few years or less and they may change tones. Once the winning (coach r.a) products are gone….

I hope they let loudoun go mls nxt vs nva and pull a Bethesda

I think there is a creative way to do this that Ecnl can live with. But it will take a lot and not sure club management is up to the task.

Nothing wrong with boys ECNL. The NVA teams tend to have part time DCU players or players that don't get much playing time. They aren't going MLS next.

They also aren't going to get MLSN because their next door neighbor VRSC is getting it.

If West Virginia Soccer got MLS NEXT, surely VRSC can. Anything's possible. Don't get it, but possible.
