You may get a call from a current family a day or two before the decision, but usually they do that after you get accepted.

If someone from the school didn’t directly tell you they could make it happen, then you haven’t gotten a hint. I’ve been through this too many times and the schools I thought loved my kids, often didn’t accept my applicant. Independent school admissions personnel would make good poker players.

Does Visitation send out decisions on 2/23? Believe Holy Child and Stone Ridge send out decisions that day.

That stuff gives me hives - such a skeevy practice. I would weigh that heavily against sending my kid to that school.

A few years ago, the lady who did testing said that she'd never had a kid answer one of her questions as thoroughly as he did, when he was applying for Kindergarten. He got in.

Other than that, I don't think we ever heard anything ahead of time.

PS - the fake handwritten postcard/letter didn't predict acceptance/rejection among the families we know. Families we knew that mentioned the letter were mixed in the eventual admissions results.

We received one for middle school. That's funny that it's mass produced-I was fooled! Are they all signed by the same kid?

Each of our children received a mass produced note that was supposed to look like it was handwritten for high school admissions (one was a letter, one was a postcard).The thing that tipped us off the first time was that we had no idea who the kid was that wrote the letter. My DC had already written thank you notes to the people they had met with (teacher interviewer and student shadow host) and the letter-writer was neither. The postcard also came from someone my second DC had not met. I wish I had saved the letter so I could see if that student was even a real person. Our friends also received a fake handwritten letter from an unrecognized student - at least it was different from ours. They must have a batch that they print out to mail.

For the LS person(s) - I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't get a postcard - this seems more like a middle and upper school procedure.
