I’ve gone topless plenty of times but always in the back of my mind is running into a coworker or nosy neighbors! I’m ok with friends being there. We are definitely not the swinging types!

Ironically swimwear is more provocative than being topless or even naked. We prefer naked over topless, it’s more natural and less sexual.

I’m European and grew up with women going topless but it was maybe 10% of women only on specific beaches. Sure, it’s about sexual freedom but let’s not pretend it’s not about sex.

I will say I don’t understand covering up aggressively in gym locker rooms where you’re just going to and from the shower ; that happens in N America and seems silly to me, but that’s a women’s only space and everyone is busy getting to the next thing, no one is lying there for hours reading a magazine.


Well, first I’d ask you to point out where anyone said it was a “magical experience.” Then when you’re unable to do so, I’d wait a beat to let the hyperbole sink in, and then I’d simply say it’s about feeling the sun, breeze, and water on your body without anything in the way. IYKYK.

This is true. I feel much prettier, sexier, and more relaxed about my body in other countries. I always feel ugly when I come back to the States because I no longer have the body of a whip-thin 19 year old, which is basically the only acceptable body type in the US.
