UW is a better school, no real question there. UGA is in a better economic location however. That’s actually matters in the long wrong. What do you think powered Michigan ( Ford ) or Berkeley( Silicon Valley)?
Based on what? USWNR? It's 39 vs 47 lol
+1 UW and UGA are going to be the same academic caliber of peer group.
Impossible. UGA graduate school sucks now and forever. They have literally invested noting into their graduate schools, hoping to win talented UG students with football/weather/easy a classes. The professors at Wisconsin are just at another level between UMD and UGA; name me one UGA department ranked in the top 50. With Wisconsin, you can't find a department which is NOT ranked in the top 20.
Top 20 of 2600 colleges is top 1%. Top 120 is top 5%. How is that a distinction worth making?
It isn't-- no one really cares about undergrad schools unless you're at a TOP school (Ivy, Michigan, etc)
Michigan isn’t TOP. Berkeley and UCLA are tied for #1.
Top 20 or so. I meant Michigan as opposed to UGA Wisconsin UF etc
Nobody thinks Michigan/ Wisco is better than UGA or UF
Wisconsin is no Georgia
Georgia is no Florida
And Florida is definitely no Michigan!
What does this mean?

Did your DC decide?
Are you in same boat? Mine visited UGA and loved. She goes to Wisconsin next.
Yes, with a couple other schools in the mix. Had a great visit at UGA, but haven’t visited Wisconsin yet. The UGA deadline is fast approaching (we are OOS) and it feels like DC is never going to decide.
Same! The UGA 5/1 is stressing me out! When do you go to Wisconsin? What major? What other schools? Dc got into others - UMD Ohio Indiana. All direct admit but wants UGA or Wisconsin....
Mine has Indiana on the list also! I'm also stressed about the 5/1 deadline and wish they had moved it back in line with their in-state students. If I had to guess I would say UGA and Wisconsin are at the top of DC's list, but it changes by the day. I thought visits would be helpful, but I think they just confirm that both schools are a great fit for a lot of the same - and some different - reasons.
Does your DC care about weather? Greek life? Major? I know this is a good problem but it's a lot. UGA is cheaper by 20k (he got some
Merit) and it's already 10k cheaper.
DC is the most laid back kid ever, which is great until he has to make a decision. He doesn't care about weather, unsure about rushing and looking at business, so they are pretty equal. Mine did not get merit at UGA or Wisconsin unfortunately. Is your DC leaning in one direction over the other?
Same. Mine totally chill but not super decisive. Not leaning one way really. Maybe a tad to Wisconsin but not sure now after UGA visit. When do you go to Wisconsin? We are this week!
Next week, so cutting it close. How was the UGA visit? What was making your DC lean slightly toward Wisconsin?
