A few months ago I would have thought that Youngkin was too smart for that. But then he tried to gain seats in the state legislature by proposing abortion bans so who knows how smart he is.

I don't think Youngkin would accept because he has higher ambitions. Both Virginia be Senators are Democrats and he will likely make a run for the Senate.
