Such a weird situation…the “encouraging note” writing is so phony, engineered by a parent and not the children themselves. OP—it seems like perhaps you are more frustrated by being subjected to such an insincere exercise to begin with?

If you are the mom who strong arms everyone else into doing your idea because it would be soooo awesome and then you’ll be soooo awesome and you screw it up, you deserve to get called out. You had one job that was your idea and couldn’t even do it. We all know that mom and seeing some of the responses here, many of you are them. If OP kid was forgotten, that means at least one other child didn’t have a buddy either. So how many kids are not getting buddies each week because queen bee “forgets”.

From the OP, I get the feeling that the DD is struggling socially within the team. That’s why it hurt to get a generic N95s from swim mom instead of a peer. Have some empathy.

Make this your take away from the situation -

never make your kid go all out for someone who is a jerk and is mean

don’t give your kid a hard time if they forget one of the little assignments from clubs and such - just step in and help out bc it’s not the end of the world

some kids and some moms who look completely out together and with it in the outside can barely keep it together - looks are deceptive

and lastly never keep your kid in a team or in a class continually if they don’t do well. Find a new team or a new class and don’t discount the effect a fresh start can have on a kids self esteem.
