Years ago I was a member at a fitness club where there was an incredibly fit 26 year old trainer. I was 35. He was seriously hot. I was about to move away so I boldly asked him if I could buy him a drink when he got off. We ended up back at my place and he was a true energizer bunny. Generally, same age relationships are about finding a partner. Or at least one person will be looking for a life partner. A 28 year old woman is typically very particular about who she invests her time in.

When there is a significant age discrepancy - both ways - it's much more casual. It becomes about sex and companionship in the here and now. No expectations about anything more significant. And that works for a lot of people. Many people are attracted to romantic partners that are 10-20 years older. In cities at least, there is a significant group of men and women who take good care of themselves and look good in their 40s and 50s. There are also a lot of people in their 20s and early 30s who haven't found the one yet and prefer the companionship of someone older rather than people their own generation. Usually, it's a stage and doesn't last forever.
