Are you talking about Jean-Ralphio and Mona Lisa (they really didn’t shout much), or are you thinking that Billy Eichner played 2 characters (he didn’t; it was just Craig)?

I’m talking about Jean-Ralphio and Mona Lisa. Yes, they did yell a lot, and even my teens found them annoying and unwatchable.

Jean-Ralphio is an amazing character and they wisely used him in little doses. Mona Lisa was annoying but didn’t ruin the show.
I heard an interview with Ben Schwartz, who played Jean-Ralphio. He said a spin off based on his character was considered but then everyone realized that would be way too much J-R. He’s better in small doses.

Sorry, but Jean-Raphio was super-annoying

Every scene with the shrink on The Sopranos ("Dr Melfi" played by Lorraine Bracco).

Every scene with the shrink on Billions ("Wendy Rhoades" played by Maggie Siff).

Truly insufferable.

Isn’t it true that a lot of times TV shows add characters to help out a show that’s on its way out already? So it’s not that the characters “ruined” the show, more like they weren’t able to help save it?
Two examples:
Chrissy on Growing Pains
Billy on Who’s the Boss

I’ve heard people say this before, but I thought he was hilarious on the Office. And Gabe, too, who someone else mentioned.

I didn’t like when the made Andy such a jerk, but other than that I loved the Office the whole way through.

Shut your mouth. Creed is the best character on the Office. You don't understand him.

+1 Creed was perfect

DP. I liked Creed, but the addition of Erin didn't make the show any better. She was annoying. Same with Gabe.

Adding -

Ed Helms (Andy) and Catherine Tate (Nellie).

The office really fell off after Steve left.

Improved a show: Amanda on Melrose Place.

Two of my favorite shows (for very different reasons😀)

Amanda was of course an amazing character but I think she gets more credit that she deserves for turning the show around. It had already introduced Kimberly and Sydney who were already improving the show immensely before she arrived.

Megan didn’t ruin the show which remained one of the best shows ever IMO. Instead, she very realistically portrayed the super annoying inappropriately young second wife that a character like Don would totally have married too quickly if he were a real person.

My original post said temporarily ruin or fully ruin....I dreaded every scene she was in once her character was introduced and was happy when Don paid her off and divorced her. I agree that is was a realistic portrayal of a young second wife .
